In this book Delaney sets aside the sci-fi genre to create an inverse biography of sorts, of Arnold Howley, a queer black poet in New York's Lower East Side. The crushingly realistic styled story is a gripping meditation on loneliness, sexuality, race and racism, missed chances, and the marginalized place of writers in society. Dark Reflections is one of the most beautiful books I've read.
