One of the best sci-fi books that I have ever read. Fast paced, poetic, an super weird. While one of the main plot points is a galactic war, it is critical of militarism, and is as much about language, relationships between outsiders, and class relations/power. If you want to read Delany but want to start with a shorter work, this is the one.
